Beaumaris

Designed for the builder by Paul Fisher, this is a lovely modern lugger, with reasonable space for cruising.

Brock 24

Designed by Martin Eyre, built by the Bridgend Boat Company.  This is a really effective development of the 24' gaffer theme - amazingly spacious whilst having good performance.

I went down to Plymouth for a day to sort out the design of the fittings for this boat.  All went well until we hit the problem of how to retract the bowsprit.  Passing through the bulwark, it could not be lifted.  Sitting in a well deck, it could not be retracted onto the side deck.  Impasse.  "I've just thought of a new use for a porthole" quoth I.  And so the solution was to retract the bowsprit into the cabin, and then out of the companionway!

Deben 4 tonner

Typical of many of the small cruisers in the UK, along with Cherubs, Hillyards, Z4's and others.  These are almost always owned by devotees who are a pleasure to deal with.  The handsome couple in the picture are George and Brenda Jago, the editors of the Gaffer's Log

Farne Islander

...and again, this time in cruiser mode.  I've never understood why the Farne Islander hasn't done better, because it is the updated Memory.  Perhaps it would have been better off without the doghouse?  But it is a lovely hull with a good rig.

Golant Gaffer

Perhaps one of the most important boats around today.  This is the next generation Shrimper/Gypsy.  Designed by Roger Dongray - who also designed the Cornish Crabber and Shrimper - it is sold only as a set of plans for home completion in wood.  I don't know how many have been built, but we have helped complete about 15 of them, one of which is planning to sail from the UK to Antigua! Norfolk Gypsy

Another of Andrew Wolstenholme's for the Norfolk Boatyard.  This boat quickly became one of their best sellers, combining as it did trailability with capability.

Sanderling

Built by Bob Fenton, to a design by Laurent Giles, essentially a stretched....

....Sandpiper,

this one home-built.  The last Christmas card we had from the owner showed her sailing amongst icebergs.  Amazing what you can do if you set your mind to it.

Shilling

Phil Swift's largest so far, and very different in style to the Farthing/Ha'penny.  Wonder what the Florin and Half-crown will be like?

Tasma VI

A new boat in the style of the Deben 4 tonner and that ilk, but brought up to date in terms of its design and construction.  Very pretty and capable, but never took off.
